La calle is a body of work created in Madrid Spain
I am using found objects to represent place, to create provenance using discarded building materials. Bricks and granite from the street are materials common place in Madrid.. The humble brick used in construction to fill and support, hold up and resist the elements. It keeps us safe. Granite is the very foundations that support us, grounding us to the earth, the paths we walk on and wears the passage of time.
Reclaim, redistribute, rethink, reclassify, regenerate reuse… This is what we do when we take a building, pull it apart and put it back together again in a new way. Restore and reimagine for a modern world. These discarded materials had a life, a story to tell rich in time passing.
