This page is dedicated to the work I developed and made while we lived in Spain from 2016-2021. I had the very fortunate opportunity to be able to focus on thinking about creating new work, exploring ideas and most importantly had time to play.. My role while we were there was to look after the kids and get them to school and back and make sure there was food to eat for them and us! Jarrones
Jarrones (vases in Español) were made from broken parts of bricks found in the rubbish.
Escombros Lamps
Escombros Lamps (Rubble in Español) were made from building waste as a part of the body of work made for “La Calle” This work was about the the walls that shelter us and the ground that holds us, history of place, the artisans and stonemason’s who built Madrid and an ever changing world.
Ladrillo (brick) lamps. These were designed and made as a pair using LED strip lighting, broken bricks and granite paving from the streets of Madrid.
Gestos Lamps
Gestos lamps were inspired by the brutalist forms in architecture I saw while exploring Europe. The dichotomy of brutal hard forms expressed through humble gestures (gestos in Español). Made from bent and welded steel. Approx 1200mm high
