Bowls and spoons
Spoons for me are a reminder of things lost, forgotten craft, a once magnificent forest. They are inspired by natural forms found in the bush. Spoons are also nurturing, they give sustenance…. perhaps something a mother uses to feed a young child
Timber has a healing quality, rich, warm and inviting. On one hand a spoon is a practical object on the other hand too beautiful to use.
As individual pieces they become souvenirs. Placing them on the wall they become a specimen, a reminder of place, a precious object.
Where has all the wonderment gone?
I cherish the time to make spoons. It gives me the space to think about life, who and what I am and how I fit into it…. And not to mention how truly amazing it really is. It goes so fast sometimes that I forget what is important to me.
…I forget to rest to rest in the moment
